    • John was at work and Minnie needed to tend to the cows, so she took Bud with her and left Dorthas Jane to watch Johnny.  It was winter and cold so she put Johnie on a palette in front of the fireplace.  He started to cry and Dorthas Jane started to fan him with a paper to get him to stop crying.  The paper caught fire and she ran outside to put it out.  The wind was blowing and the fire got her.
